“Moye amusingly emulates ’50s punk as the dentist who abuses Audrey and pays for it by becoming the plant’s first major munch. He has the funniest song, “Dentist,” ecstatically dwelling on the delights of inflicting pain. Moye also excels in a number of minor parts (one of them female), portraying media personalities eager to make Seymour a celebrity by promoting his horticultural miracle. (Moye was able to maintain his perf as Orin despite a technical glitch that halted the production just before his death scene and subsequent human sacrifice to Audrey II’s ravenous appetite.)”
